Dubrovnik

The main economic activities of Dubrovnik for centuries were shipbuilding, trade, commerce, maritime affairs and, in recent times, tourism. Dubrovnik, in the Middle Ages, was called Dubrovnik Republic, the only city-state that rivaled Venice. Dubrovnik's economy has always been based on maritime trade, and between the 15th and 16th century, the city has achieved the highest level of development.

Of the most famous monuments and sights of Dubrovnik, we recommend you visit the Lovrijenac castle , which is a historical symbol of resistance to the Venetian Republic. Rector's Palace is a cultural and historical museum and, a year ago, was the seat of government and the Rector of the Dubrovnik Republic. Dubrovnik Cathedral is full of ecclesiastical vessels, gold and silver reliquary and various images of Croatian and Italian painters.
