Pula is the center of Istria since Roman times. Amphitheater
in Pula is the largest and best preserved monument of ancient architecture in
Croatia and it is listed as the sixth largest amphitheater in the world. It is
still not on the list of World Heritage sites, but we hope that will change
soon. Gladiator fights in the amphitheater were banned, as well as fighting
among prisoners and wild animals. The amphitheater served as a place for cattle
grazing and sometimes for fairs and knights’ tournaments. Sights that you must
also visit the are the Temple of Rome and Augustus and St..
Francis.
